DPS Releases Annual Safety Brochure

DPS has issued the 2008 verison of "Your Safety and Security at Syracuse University," the department's annual safety brochure that contains crime statistics for all SU campuses for the years 2005, 2006, and 2007. Click the cover image at left to download a PDF version of the brochure.

DPS Raises $500 for Local Food Bank

During its second annual “Beards for Food” program, DPS raised $500 for the Food Bank of Central New York. For a minimum $10 donation, male DPS employees were permitted to grow neatly trimmed facial hair, and female employees were permitted to wear a DPS uniform golf shirt during summer break,. According to CNY Food Bank executive director Tom Slater, every $1 donated to the Food Bank purchases $10 worth of food.

DPS, SPD, Newhouse Collaborate on Emergency Disaster Drill

For the 10th consecutive year, DPS, the Syracuse Police Department and the graduate students from the Newhouse school’s journalism program teamed up for an on-campus disaster drill. The drill featured actors portraying various “emergency situation” scenarios and DPS and SPD personnel responding to those situations.
